Justified

Justified, on FX, has become one of my favorite shows. Much of this is due to Timothy Olyphant. I have found him to be a tasty mix of smarts and testosterone since I saw him on Deadwood. I don't know much about him and was glad to see he was on Ellen when I got home from work last week. I was disappointed that he seemed pretty dull. But I decided to watch after the commercial just to be sure I had been duped. When the show returned he told a story about his view on cats that made me fall for him again.

Ellen showed pics of the various pets at Olyphant's house, dogs, a hamster, a gecko. He told about his daughter telling him she wanted a cat. Olyphant told her that as a boy his family had several cats, all called Kitty. He told his daughter he'd get her a cat, but there were a few rules regarding this pet. The daughter agreed. That night he took a bowl of cat food to the street in front of the house. The next day the food was gone so he refilled the bowl and moved it 5 feet closer to the house. He repeated the procees for several nights. "By Thursday I was able to get my daughter and tell her, 'come seee what Daddy got you.'" There on the back porch was a cat. "These are the rules for having a cat," he told her:
The cat is NEVER allowed into the house.
The only name the cat will have is Kitty.
And, the cat is the family pet from 7-8pm.

Genius! I don't hate cats but am not a real fan either. Animals walking on counters sniffing food do not appeal to me. I really like the timed-aspect of having such a pet - I'd've had kids if I had only been responsible from 7-8pm. I regained my respect for him with this story.

So I will continue to watch Justified. Olyphant has some of my favorite traits; he's married, loves dogs, and tolerates cats. Plus, damn is he HOT.

"Animals walking on counters sniffing food do not appeal to me."

I had that problem with my pet bear. That and he wouldn't let me change the TV channel when one of "his" programs was on.

He doesn't seem like the nurturing type.

While feeding the feral cat/s is a nice thing, it does not provide the daughter with what she desires from the relationship.

Hey Craig;

Cats are trainable. My cat NEVER gets on the counters or my air mattress. I trained him to stay off of such places. I only had to shoot him a couple of times for each incident and he got the message.

I feed some of my cats on my back porch!! Then I feed the rest of the cats in the barn. Now I know you think may sound strange, but I have not seen a mouse in the barn for years, so you tell me!!!

I had a similar problem, although, in this case, "bear" might mean something else.

I hate it when pets hog the remote. I also hate it when hogs pet the remote.

But, at least she is learning compromise. Her dad apparently doesn't want a house cat so I think it was a good solution.. She has other pets so I believe that should give her somewhat of the same relationship. But then again, I'd never get a pet cat.

T, Where do you get a cat gun? There are some in my neighborhood that need training. I would think after shooting them they'd stay off the counter permanently. You are a true cat whisperer.

Be honest; wasn't the dog a lot more fun than the cats?

What does "bearskin" mean at your place?
I want to be your pet.

Hey Craig;

Wally World sells super soakers. Those are best used in extreme cases. Any squirt gun or plant misting bottle will work quite nicely. After a few hits, I could imitate the squish sound of the squirt gun and it worked just as well.

I think I have the bitchiest cat in the world. He complains about everything. If I fall asleep watching tv, he bitches. If I read a book, he bitches. When I cook dinner I have to step around him in the middle of the floor. Step too closely? Bitching. If I don't give him the right kind of FancyFeast (shrimp 'n whitefish or salmon with, God forbid..no gravy!) he bitches. When I sift his catbox he sits on the basement stairs supervising and bitching. Then, as soon as I'm done sifting he backs into the box, shitting and bitching. Sometimes I do instigate it intentionally...just to hear him complain.

Best regards, Callman

Well, have been catching up on blogs again....... your series of blogs has been most entertaining as always. Not sure why you have not gotten signed up by a newspaper or paying blog site..... as a political humorist blogger you would be a hit.... some of your stuff reminds me of early Maupin stuff.
Anyway, enough of sucking up!
Maybe the dude at the VA is into daddy sex. One never knows. Just ask Herman about that bit... lol
HUGS and keep on writing my friend.

I'm a fan of Tim's as well. And think I may even have him under or undressed in my collection.

Thanks for popping by!
