So .... Are You Ready???

I don't know about you, but I am so ready for the end of the reminders about the transition to HDTV!!!!! I'm ready. I am not a cable subscriber, so that meant either buying a new tv/tvs and the kind of antenna that it takes or a converter box/es or subscribing to cable. I chose to replace a tv and buy a converter box for another. Because they changed the date for the transition, I did not hurry to get it done ... but I've been ready for over two weeks now ... lol According to the news, they are saying that approximately 75,000 homes in the Phoenix area are not ready .... with only hours left now before the change takes place. The only problem that I am having is that the homeowners association in which I live does not allow exterior antennas, and the current one is built into the exterior wall ... and it will not work with HDTV ... so I had to buy an antenna for inside. I have bought two, and the second one is working better, but I still have to adjust it often to change channels ... and sometimes out of the blue I will get the message that there is no signal and I have done nothing to the antenna ... lol. So, my quest is to find the most powerful version of an inside antenna to work with HD transmission. I don't know anyone who is pleased with the antennas for interior and the reception although I will say that the number of channels I now get has more than doubled. Are you ready for the transition??? Whitney |

Wow, I never knew that very many people had regular broadcast TVs anymore. Most Canadians have been either on cable or satellite for many decades, I suppose it's due to the lack of regular broadcast choices. I did hold back for HD until a little over a year ago though. John Whitney

Yeah here in Florida we switched last February !!! Worse part is, all the TV's that we use for emergency ( battery operated), due to Hurricanes, aren't any good anymore, and the new ones are expensive !!! Charlie Whitney

It works great with my house antena. My trailor on the river never had cable or satelite, justa outside antena. The coverter box, with outside antena makes viewing local channels better than ever. The only problem I see is when storms come by I loose my picture. That is the one thing I loved about analog. In bad weather it was alway there, and being 30 miles from a tornado siren, analog was dependable.Peace Whitney

I have a relative in the same situation. I told her to pay to have her house relocated next to a cable tower. It be her house, a giant 200 ft tower and she'd plant a few sunflowers to take away from the 200 foot tower. She didn't find the humor, she wanted to find Oprah. I'm serious, that's exactly what she said to me. LOL Whitney

Yes and I like you have bought the converter box and have inside antennas. They go of the air often, the volume changes alot and the picture is not that great at times. Thanks big brother for this mess. Whitney
