So hear is my feelings on the matter. I think she has one of the top voices of all time. With Sissy as her mother and Dion as her aunt the genes fell right.

I am one that long ago felt she would die young when like so many developed an abuse problem that never showed signs of being dealt with completely. Then all that public shame on the news all he time makes it worse. I have not looked today to see if a cause of death has been decided. I would be shocked it it was not related to abuse problems.

It's ashamed so many great people left us before the talents could be enjoyed for many years.

Go back and thing of someone from all generations that was gone to soon that you wanted to hear for many years as there music developed or change. I think about Jim Morrison, Bobby Darren, and some many others

I just posted one about her songs. I wonder how Jim Morrison would look today had he lived. I wonder how long his career would have lasted as music changed as the politics of the country and our culture changed. I know his voice was one of the most erotic male voices I have ever heard.

I'd be happy to be old and rich. Happier to be really old and rich. The whole fame trip you can have. I'd rather not have the night before my breakthrough success be the eve of destruction. And yes this isn't much about Whitney. I'm still sad about River Phoenix.

Jimi Hendrix, Jim Croce, The Big Bopper, Richie Valens, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison . . . the list is regrettably long.

There's a few, and I've not seen one single blog about the death of Jill Kinmont, whose was a champion skier who had an accident and became parapalegic; her story was told in two books and two movies: "The Other Side of the Mountain" Parts 1 and 2.

Anywho, I can't help thinking that some folks were lucky to die young rather than taint their image, and I don't really see the big deal with folks dying because as Dorothy Parker once said to Samuel Goldwyn: Mr. Goldwyn, there've been billions and billions of people in the world, and not one of 'em have ever had a happy ending.

I quit drugs, and alcohol 21 years ago,but the addiction lives on.We are never cured. We can however change how we live.Whitney fought her demons.Thought through some well meaning friends she was cured, but had to fight that addiction to her death.I pray her soul finds peace in heaven, and her family, and friends find peace too..Peace..steven

Since his music was from his poetry written about life I think he would have evolved with the times. Yes his voice is very erotic and masculine.

If I had 15 fame I would want it to be the 15 minute kind. I most remember River for the movie Stand By Me or the hot look and his death.

Thank for reminding us of Jim Croce! That was a very short but wonderful time of music from him

What a great Quote! Helps keep life in perspective when we think about death.

I'm sure she will rest in peace. She did far more good for people then what some saw at her low points.

I agree completely! She had the gift of a unique and fantastic voice along with a style all her own. I believe that she will be to Pop Music, the same type of legend that Patsy Cline was to Country Music. Her music will be cherished for many generations to come.

What an awesome, heartfelt and emotional "Home-Going" service for her yesterday. RIP in God's loving arms Whitney!
