盛夏的光年把人物的心理刻畫得很深刻，著重于情感的深入。演員的演出也比較投入和真實，而和同款電影
《藍色大門》相比，就顯得更加唯美和淳樸。整個畫面都十分憂鬱。
《藍色大門》完全不能跟《盛夏光年》比：
1.《藍》的選角太俗，全片就是陳柏霖在作秀，秀他的花襯衫，他在泳池裡的肌肉，他的所謂陽光大男孩的微笑，和他的“天蠍座0型血”，這是一個被刻意塑造出來的會被大多數人公認的讓女生尖叫的完美形象，所以在片尾，就會出現一段“在一扇藍色的大門前等待”的不知所謂的結尾。至於桂綸美在片中喜歡的那個女生——我甚至連名字都不需要去記住——在街上隨便抓，一大把。
2.《藍》的立意太俗，不能歸為同志片，或者青春片一類，頂多就是一個風光片，台灣校園言情MV，加上時下流行的一點同志元素而已。我相信，如果給他加個續集，桂綸美同學會滿臉微笑得撲向等在那個藍色大門前的陳柏霖同學。
3.《藍》的藍色大門的出現，完全摸不著頭腦，編劇反復重复的那句“天蠍座0型血游泳隊吉他社”亦然。究竟藍色大門有什麼寓意，編劇也許也說不出來，這只是為了給這部片子添上一個唯美的句號：在鋼琴聲中，兩個騎向陽光的年輕人，加上一句藍色大門前的誓言，於是觀眾一片唏噓。
4.《藍》沒有打動人的地方，如果值得為他揪心、心酸、掉眼淚的話，那還不如看本32開小言情來的暢快。
