I have been missing in action o'er here, because because because; suffice to say there was a bit of blecchiness on this site a whilst back, and it kinda momentarily killed the joy of bloggin' for moi.

Oh, and I don't really have anything worth saying, which has ne'er really stopped moi before, but apparently 'tis been enough of a roadblock this thyme 'round.

Anywho, I have of course been blogging on the o'er site, 'cuz I've been building ZillaMovies; and the nice thing about ZillaMovies is that I can espresso moiself without words and such ~ and e'en though I'm all about words, I also like not having to use 'em, Gemini that I yam.

So I gotta play catch up, and I hope all of ya'll're awesomepossum, 'cuz 'tis the only way to roll except for the zillions of other ways to roll. Smooches, Z

Vis-a-vis the photo: from sunset out at Shilshole Harbour yesterevening, and 'twas spectacular!

Hallo everyone; apologies for not getting to moi blog comments, but then again I kinda subscribe to the idea that one shouldn't apologize, they just shouldn't do it again - although I likely WILL do it again, so I'll split the difference and unapologize, word to the wise.

Well then, I finally Finnished Larry McMurty's "Lonesome Dove" the other day, and just had to write about it 'cuz 'twas a book that is awesomepossum. Prolly all of moi peeps have read this book, 'cuz 'tis a hugely popular book, and it won the Pulitzer Prize: and of course the mini-series was also quite popular. I actually couldn't get into the mini-series, and I was a bit put off by how many times the word "whore" was used. But having read the book, I might tackle the mini-series at some point.

So Lonesome Dove is a bit of a revisionist western, and features several finely detailed characters and richly described settings. There were parts that I skimmed over, which mostly involved the action sequences ~ though many folks would likely find those the most engaging part of this book. I tend to read mostly for characters, and McMurty is a writer who excels as creating interesting, complex and unique characters ~ and he does so with both male and female characters, which isn't something all writers can pull off: f'rinstance, John D. MacDonald, who wrote the Travis McGee series, is horrible at writing female characters and even though I like his books, there are moments in his books that are eye-rollingly bad.

Anywho, 'tis not really a book that I'd suggest for everyone, 'cuz everyone has their own tastes; and I find it funny when folks say stuff like "everyone should see this movie/book/play" because it seems remarkably shortsighted and self-centered; but then again I'm remarkably shortsighted and self-centered, so there ya go. Nonethelest, Lonesome Dove is a book that has many appealing qualities, and it's not just for folks who like getting lost in a big fat book about the Old West.

So that's moi post, and I'll try to get to your comments as soon as Zillaly possible, but the sun's oot oot and aboot, and I'd best hit the trail podners, 'cuz the ZillaBike3-D ain't been rode hard and put away wet in a coon's age! Smooches, Z

~ city of snow ~ Jan 20, 2012 10:43 am

As many o' youse might've heard through the grapevine, Seattle has been having a 'snowpocalypse,' although having lived in Alaska and Lake Tahoe the snowfall here seems relatively mild. But there's been roads closed, accidents, schools and businesses closed, planes delayed and power outages so in that sense even though it doesn't look like Snowmaggedon, it has been such.

Anywho, I went running in the snow yesterday, and I don't think I've fun on actual snow since Alaska, which was about 20 years ago. And I started off with the idea that I would just do a couple of miles, but ended up running about 7, because it was kinda nice to run when the trail is relatively deserted, although the folks who were oot oot and aboot looked like something outta a post-apocalytic story ~ I'd read Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" last year, and its stuck with moi all this time.

So I also went oot oot and aboot later that day on the hunt for some cookie mix at Grocery Outlet, and decided to take the bus; and the bus was having trouble getting up the hill, and the driver couldn't stop at a couple of stops on the way up, because apparently if she did the bus wouldn't've gotten rolling again. Anywho, we made it up, and I got moi cookie mix ~ Aunt Jemima's chocolate chip cookie mix: who knew that racist icon was still shilling it up, pup? So on the bus ride back, i remembered that I had the ZillaCamera with moi, and started snapping scenes of the streets that have names, e'en though I don't know their names; and then it struck moi: the ZillaCamera takes videos! So I took a series of videos of the ride home, and they'll likely end up in a ZillaMovie ~ and actually 'twould be one I could just dash off unlike the one I'm building of moi adventures in Seattle Public Library, which has taken more time than I've got, robot. Actually, the fourth and final part is in the final stages, and I could actually call it done and move on, but I want to add some transitions and different pans and scans and yadayadayada. However, part four does feature actual video of scenes I shot in downtown Seattle, and includes footage taken whilst riding ZillaBike3-D downhill toward the site where I met up with HH suddenly last summer.

Anywho, I made it back to the ZillaCondo in one piece, and in the early evening hours I built some ZillaCookies, which consists of a some of the cookie mix, cardamom, olive oil and a bit of water; I leave the eggs out 'cuz I'm vegan, and I don't think it makes any difference, does it? The cookie dough is actually better raw than baked, but then again warm cookies and coffee on a snowy evening are rather heavenly. Whoops, apologies to moi fellow atheists for using the "h" word, but I s'pose that since I'm in the club I can use such fowl language without apologies, so if'n youse're offended, suck it ya preechy screetchy knuckleheads! Ugh, I often feel like I'm more of a Christian or religious type than folks who profess to be such a type, but perhaps one reason some folks turn to religion is 'cuz they're trying to strive toward something or other or feel they're lacking in some department; it's kinda like how some folks think having babies or finding 'the one' will complete them; the psychoological sages and such call these default identities, which is about striving for the status quo; and I'm all about the status quo seekers, 'cuz without 'em there wouldn't be folks on the margins of the status quo such as moiself to lob the occasional stone at 'em and howl with insane laughter, yer.

Ugh, this blog has taken a turn for the douche, so I'll bid ya'll adieu and see youse when I see youse, Z

Hey gang,

the Zill's been a bit missing in action from this site lately, but here I am trying to git 'er done, son. Anywho, as I've been building videos lately, and so I'm going to cut and paste the blog I wrote on the other site sans the videos I uploaded, which is kinda nice in a way 'cuz that means the blog is less crowded with all that Zilla. So here 'tis, and now I'm going to try to get to the comments ya'll've left for moi, smooches, Z

A few days ago there was an unusually spectacular sunset in Seattle, and I was lucky to be in a great spot to capture it on the ZillaCamera: the University of Washington. And it didn't start off as a sunset montage, because I was originally just going to capture a few shots of UW [or You Dub, as 'tis called], but then I happened to notice that the sun setting was creating a stunning display of light.

Anywho, now that I've started taking pictures of Seattle, I've been noticing things with slightly different eyes; and there are so many images I couldashouldawoulda captured, and that I have captured ~ in addition to this series of photos, I've built three other movies that all turned out so long that I've spilt 'em up into 3 or 4 parts. The one I'm working on currrently is a Zillaesque tour of the Seattle Public Library downtown branch that was designed by Rem Koolhaas ~ and I've spilt that one into at least four parts.

Then I snapped almost a zillion photos of our snow day in Seattle on Sunday, and that one ended up being at least four parts. And yesterday's photos will likely be made into another three parter. Oh, and I want to go back and reuse some of the other movies I've build with different music and different effects, so 'tis the case that most of it will not see the light o' the innerwebs, and isn't it always the case that I have too many things I want to do than time and energy? A blessing and a curse all wrapped up in an enigmatic riddle.

So Seattle is a bounty of images that makes moi wish I knew what I was doing; and I often feel as if I'm traipsing about in a post-modern Maxfield Parrisheque landscape, especially at the transitional time of sunset. Sunrises tend to be less spectucular, 'cuz 'tis often overcast, although that has charms of its own. Anywho, the thing I try to capture most in moi photos is the paradoxes, extremes and contrasts of the city, and the coexistence of beauty and ugliness, life and death, sacred and profane, wealth and poverty and la-di-da.

Anywho, I'm waiting for the vids to upload so I can post 'em here, and I'll describe 'em a bit. The first one is set to Stevie Nicks' "Silver Springs," and it is pretty much the same as the one set to the music of Paul Simon, but shorter ~ and there's a few transitions and photo effects that are different. I'd been going to use "Gypsy" as a song, and it would've worked beautifully, but I didn't have the version I wanted uploaded to moi computer.

So I decided to use Faith No More's "Epic" for another version, because I've always loved this tune and it should be on moi Seattle playlist ~ I'm going to add it to moi MP3 player so I can have it as a soundtrack for when I run run run moi booty off. So with this version, I played around with the images to make 'em fit the tune, and I love the results ~ and as a result this version has fewer retouched images. Oh, speaking of running: on half of the morning run I went in the reverse direction that I usually run, and as a result I noticed that there's a place where the sidewalk merges into an actual railroad track and reemerges as a sidewalk. So this made moi think about all the traces of long forgotten faces, and alas I didn't have moi camera this morning, so I didn't get to capture those photos, but 'twill be captured at some point ~ and I wonder if I have time to get a few shots before the sun sets?

So there ya have it: three for the price of three, and they're all very different yet eggzactly alike. Anywho, the last is being uploaded and then I can get back on the ZillaBike3-D and head home, 'cuz the sun's going down and 'twill be chilly chilly chilly on the evening ride home. Anywho, hope all is awesome with ya'll if you deserve awesomeness, and even if you don't deserve it I still hope you get it, 'cuz once you get a taste of bein' awesome you'll realise that 'tis worth striving for, and you can quit striving toward blechiness [that last sentence doesn't apply to the usual suspects in ZillaLand ~ just so there's no bruised feelings]. So I had a somewhat horrific run this morning, because 'twas kinda snowing when I went oot oot and aboot, and I decided that I didn't need gloves for whate'er reason.

So moi meathooks were cold at first, but got a bit warmer; so I got out to Gasworks Park and turned around and it really began to snow, and moi hands got colder and colder; I'd taken the ZillaCamera with the hopes of snappin' some pics for a ZillaMovie, and I did manage to get a few; but I began to notice moi hands weren't working all that well, and that didn't seem like a good sign: 'tis been decades since I've lived where it snows regularly, so 'tis hard to recall all the warning signs.

Anywho, I got home and had a bit of trouble getting the key into the locks, but apparently I did ~ and as this blog indicates, moi hands are working working working.

But 'twas scary to face the idea that I might've done some damage to moi hands; moi hands are moi fave part o' moi body ~ seriously; and even though I'm confident I'd get along without 'em, 'tis not something I want to face at this point.

Anywho, here's one of the results of moi recent bout with brain shrinkage, and soon 'twill be a ZillaMovie so as they say, every act of stupidity empowers an angel, eh? Wot?

I happened to be at the University of Washington during a spectucular sunset and caught some of it on the ZillaCamera, and many of the shots came out reasonably well; so I've been editing them into another ZillaMovie, although I've been having a tricky time putting them in the right narrative order, and also in selecting the right retouching effects for various photos.

But that's all part of the fun, and 'tis highly enjoyable trying to make it all work out; I don't really care about the final results as much as the process, although it is kinda one and the same.

So I was thinking about the things about movie making and such are kinda a metaphor for some of the philosophies I've glommed onto o'er the years, such as being prepared to capture what comes along, but accepting and appreciating the unexpected ~ or making the unexpected work out. And along these same lines, there's many things I wish I could do, but can't; yet if I keep on keepin' on then I generally get better at what I'm doing. And frustration is inevitable, but ce'st le guerre, because being frustrated is fine and dandy sometimes.

Yeesh, as that indicates, I am quickly become what I often resist, which is a la-di-da Hallmarky kinda critter: in fact, there was a guy on the meet and greet site who sent me what he called a compliment of sorts: he said moi hobbies and activities reminded him of a Hallmark Magazine. Hahahahahahaha, we gotta laugh if only 'cuz 'tis better than crying! Smooches, Z

Btw: this is one of many images that'll soon be ZillaMovie'd, YAY!

I've been so caught up in building ZillaMovies that I've neglected blogging, except to blog about building ZillaMovies on the other site.

But I'm here right now, and going to create a spectucular blog to make up for missing in action, Anywho, the weather reports indicate that Seattle might be swathed in blankets of snow in the near future, which would be awesome because there'd be some amazing photo opportunities; then again, there are plenty of photo opps round and about, and since I've gotten into snapping pics I've been clicking clicking away ~ although 'tis often the case that I don't have moi camera when there's something particularly spectacular ~ or when I do have moi camera and there's something I really want to capture, the batteries crash and burn.

So many oppotunities missed, but there's always another one right 'round the corner. Speaking of which, this pic is one I took the other day when I was oot oot and aboot, and I didn't know if I'd captured it, because moi memory was full on the ZillaCamera [yet another problemo: note to self, self get a spare memory stick], but it was saved in the actual ZillaCamera itself, so YAY!

Anywho, that's it; that's the whole deal; was it good for yosue too If not, 'twill be better next time Smooches, Z

'Twas a sunny winter day in Seattle, and I just built a movie featuring pics I'd taken today set to the music of Stevie Nicks' "Sara" ~ and 'tis not done yet, but is coming along nicely.

Anywho, I'd been this close to leaving one of moi patented ZillaComments on a blog from a creature who lamented that he's the only kind decent and moral queer in the galaxy, tsk tsk tsk, and everyone else is so blecchy and only after quick cheap and easy sex. But common sense prevailed, and 'twas good because later on he posted yet another howlie rant about how queers are only after one thing and yadayadayada, and he seems set tearin' hisself down by buildin' o'ers up.

And this is something I've done before, isn't it Oh wait, I actually was doing just that when I described him. Whoopsie!

Regardlest, I was thinking about the idea that the more one hates or resists something the harder it is to break away; and put another way, the more one focuses on what they don't like, the less time and energy they have to focus on what they claim they want.

So I had it all figured out for this critter; but I decided to keep moi crystal visions to moiself, 'cuz sometimes things that are meant as a gift are taken as a burden, and The Zill doesn't want to be anyone's beast of burden.

OK, that's tonights blog; it's really not much, but 'twill have to suffice 'till there is one that is really much, Dutch. Smooches, Z
Btw: here's a pic that was used in moi latest and greatest ZillaMovie, and was taken in the Fremont neighborhood underneath the Aurora Bridge, which is home to the Fremont Troll

So the Zill hasn't been in the swing of things, and I promise I'll make it up to youse at some point.

Anywho, quick post to give a shout oot oot and aboot; I'd been posting moi videos on the other site and have neglected ya'll, although there hasn't been a latte o' Zilla to give, so until they allow cloning I'm spreading moiself a bit thin.

So I have a bucket of photos I'm going to post, and this one's for Fire-Rex, 'cuz I know how he appreciates culinary delights; and o' course o' coarse he baked moi a devilish foodz cake, so that was fine and Jake.

And I'll see ya later gators and try to behave yourselves, lest you decide otherwise - word to the wise prisoner who is in the guise of a disguise. Smooches, Z

The Zill, it must be said [though I'm not sure why] is a bit tired and worn down today; I just got a cup of hot H20 at Starbucks to mix up moi cold medication from Theraflu, and I should be either under the table or flyin' high momentarily.

Fremont: that is the neighborhood where I am right now, and I'll post a photo of a sign that I rode by moments ago, though I snapped the pic a few days ago: 'tis still very much what it looked like today. And this picture is one I used in moi latest ZillaMovie, so I decided it'll do as a substitute for dat, hep cat.

Today is briskly chilly, and apparently I'd been so taken with BenRex's outfit that he modeled for us on his blog that I decided to kinda wear something similar ~ 'tho' not entirely.

Alas, I don't actually have a fur lined hoodie, for whate'er reason [WTZ?] but I do have one with a bit of fake something-or-other that lines the hood; and I also have puka shells, so between the two items I'm kinda a BenRex clone for a day.

Anywho, as stated earlier if moi fuzzy brain remembers riot, 'tis a brisk and chilly day in Seattle, but veddy clear e'en though 'tis getting darker as I look outside the window. And 'twill be a chilly cycle ride home, but I'll get rewarmed up and head oot oot and aboot for a run if the cold medication's kicked in; but if it kicks moi down, then I'm down for the count, which'll have to be fine.

OMZ, there's a cute guy who walked in; he's kinda oversharing on his cell phone, but he's cute enough to get by with such rubbish behaviour ~ and besides *snorts with laughter* I've been known to do a bit of cell yellin' moiself, e'en though I stawped it as soon as I realised what a blasted fool I was makin' o' moiself.

Anywho, I'm about to head oot oot and aboot, 'cuz I don't wanna git caught in the cold, so 'till laters: smooches, Z
