Halfhearted? Why's that you might ask? Well, after reading through some of the blogs this morning, I'm saddened. Saddened on one hand and deeply moved on the other.

Daylight Savings Time.... It's a Communist Plot I tell ya!

We hillbillies here in Indiana have always been seen as kind of 'backward', especially in regards to adopting Daylight Savings Time.
Well, the Indiana State Bubbas.... er Legislator has 'fixed' all that. They passed the daylight savings bill last session so MOST of Indiana will change the clocks along with the majority of the country this year.
According to the bills proponents, doing so will save the states economy, force the rest of the country to realize that Indiana is truly a progressive state, end hunger, end global warming, disease and poverty, not to mention a myriad of other positive things.
Well, I don't think soooo.....
Indiana, by rights should REALLY be located in the central time zone, instead of the eastern one.
Then daylight savings time would make perfect sense. In fact, there are number of Ind. counties that have petitioned the Fed to do just that. Some were allowed, mostly up by Chicago and down around Evansville, most were not.
Instead of unifying the state under one time zone, which was one of the MANY reasons given to adopt DST Ind is still left with counties in multiple different time zones.
Confused yet?
Well, it get's better. You see, Ind is located so far west in the eastern time zone, we already have the advantage of approx 1/2+ daylight in the evening versus New York city. Check it out. It's true.
Now that we have daylight savings, the sun will NOT set here in Indy on June 21st until 9:36 at night. Legal twilight, the time that it actually get's dark, will not occur until after 10:00pm.
Sheesh.
Not to mention the fact that the sun won't come up in the morning until God knows when.
Now, I'm a morning person. I love to get up and go for a walk or jog in the early morning. Well, I did up until this year. Now it's going to still be dark and folks, I AIN'T walking around these streets in the dark. Uh uh. I value my life thank you very much.
