Who says you can't have the best of both worlds?
It's a good thing that this Web site exists, specifically for those of us who live "alternative" lifestyles and who would otherwise have a very difficult time connecting with other, like-minded people.
I'm an openly bisexual guy who's been out of the closet since 1978 -- originally as gay and since 1993 as bi.
I've been polyamorous for my entire adult life. Although I'm quite content to have just two partners -- one female and the other male -- I won't say no to having additional close "friendships with benefits" -- with the emphasis on friendships, as one-night stands no longer appeal to me.
I'm married; my wife -- whom I met through Adult FriendFinder four years ago -- knows that I'm bi and is way cool with it (You have no idea how exceedingly rare it is for an openly bi guy to have a wife who's neither adamantly insistent on strict monogamy, nor is homophobic, so I consider myself VERY fortunate).
My wife and I have a mutual boyfriend with whom we both love dearly (The only downside is that he lives on the other side of the state, so we don't get to see him as often as we'd like).
I came of age during the heyday of the 1960s "flower " -- and still consider myself a hippie at heart, even more than 40 years after the legendary "Summer of Love" (Indeed, long hair remains my biggest turn-on).
I'm a native of New York City who's called Vermont home since the summer of 1994 (after living in the San Francisco Bay Area for 12 1/2 years before that). I'm a "Black Indian" -- a proud melange of Louisiana Creole (Thanks, Mom) and Carolina Cherokee (Thanks, Dad). I've been a practicing Pagan for over 20 years, following Wiccan and Native American traditions.
I'm a part-time radio DJ (Smooth Jazz and R&B), so I'm not exactly a low-profile figure where I live. But I've been "out" for far too many years to worry about what negative-thinking naysayers think of me.

Friendship means a lot to me -- and the closer the friendship, the better.
Some call it "friendship with benefits" -- namely, a friendship that's close enough to enjoy erotic intimacy. I prefer to call it an "intimate friendship." It's the closest friendship one can have. And obviously, one that's free from jealousy or possessiveness.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE: As a practitioner of polyamory -- being in relationships with more than one person with the full knowledge and blessing of all involved -- I strongly prefer fellow travelers on the polyamorous path. Freedom from jealousy or possessiveness requires absolutely honest communication between you and your partner (as well as between my Significant Others and myself).
In other words, NO LYING CHEATERS!
Oh, and NO SMOKERS, either.
